Interests and Research
Professor McLain serves as Department Head with responsibilities for program leadership and administration. His research interests include the performance of structural mechanical connections between and to wood members, and the mechanical properties of wood and wood-based materials. He speaks frequently on the role of wood in 21st Century society, the impact of technology and global consumption on forest resources, and Bioproducts.
Teaching
Professor McLain gives guest lectures in several courses, is responsible for the department seminar WSE507/607 and teaches the WS&E module in FOR 111 Introduction to Forestry.
